calibration

The thermometer is calibrated. In most cases, thermometers are precisely calibrated in our manufacturing facility and you do not usually need to calibrate your thermometer. However, if after prolonged use you feel that the temperature readings displayed by the thermometer are inaccurate, you can recalibrate the thermometer as follows:

  1. Use distilled or purified water to make ice cubes in the refrigerator.
  2. Prepare a thermos. If it is not available, use a mug or a regular mug;
  3. Fill the bottle with ice cubes (no less than 70% by volume) and top up with cold distilled or purified water (no more than 30% by volume).
  4. Stir the mixture and leave for 10 minutes to allow ice and water to reach equilibrium temperature;
  5. Open the thermometer, unscrew and remove the battery cover.

  6. Submerge the probe in the ice and water mixture, being careful not to touch the sides of the container. Wait for the temperature reading to drop to its lowest reading, which should be around 32°F or 0°C. If the temperature of the ice/water mixture is not between 28°F and 36°F (or -2°C and +2°C), the calibration cannot proceed: you must prepare the ice/water again Mix as specified below. above;
  7. Press and hold the CAL button for 5 seconds to enter calibration mode. CAL is displayed for 3 seconds and the current temperature is displayed on the screen.
  8. Press the CAL button once to confirm and exit calibration mode.

Nuts:
Calibration mode only takes 15 seconds. If you cannot calibrate within 15 seconds, the thermometer will exit calibration mode automatically.

If you want to undo the calibration and return to the default calibration settings, do the following:

  1. Turn on the thermometer and press the “CAL” button for 5 seconds to enter calibration mode.
  2. Press the lock button to cancel the calibration and it will reset to default.

Helpful tips

  • When measuring different foods or meats, it may be necessary to first rinse the tip with cold water to cool the probe.
  • It is recommended to clean the probe tip between measurements. This is especially important when measuring the temperature of different foods or meats.
  • This thermometer is designed for occasional hand use. Do not use in the oven. Do not place in extremely hot (above 572°F) food or liquid for more than 1 minute.
  • Always read the thickest meat. Thin cuts of meat are difficult to measure because they tend to cook quickly. Avoid touching the bone. If the tip touches the bone or thick fat area of the meat, or if the tip isn't deep enough, read again to ensure accuracy.
  • It is not intended for use by persons under the age of 12.

Take good care of your thermometer

  • Do not touch the stainless steel part of the thermometer during or immediately after taking the temperature as it will be hot.
  • Do not expose it to extreme heat or cold as this can damage electronic parts and plastics.
  • Do not stick the thermometer into the food while cooking.
  • If the device will be stored for more than four months, remove the batteries.
